Veolia Transport, First in Europe With Free Internet in Couchettes

Published: 2010-08-19

Now passengers between Malmö - Stockholm, Malmö – Stockholm - Åre, Malmö – Stockholm – Narvik as well as on the Lapplandståget can surf the web for free. This makes Veolia Transport the only train company in Europe that offers its guests free internet access in long-distance overnight trains.

Previously, Veolia Transport has offered Internet free of charge to passengers in their carriages on the same lines, but is now expanding the offer also to travellers in couchettes.

The technology solution comes from Oxyfi AB, a company that provides mobile platform solutions for Internet access on trains, buses and ships. Veolia Transport and Oxyfi already have collaboration on the Mittnabotåg, another train line in Sweden.

Veolia Transport offers travellers the internet on board at no extra cost, 230-volt power outlet and a real dining car. A trip one way Malmö – Stockholm costs 349 SEK. Veolia Transport uses fixed prices regardless of when the passenger booking.
